August 1997 Meeting

Kelp and its' health promoting qualities.

Who: Bob Gillespie (a.k.a.) "Seaweed Bob"

What: The topic of this months meeting is titled "Kelp and its'health promoting qualities".

Bob Gillespie, also known as "Seaweed Bob" is a mine of information on the properties and use of kelp gained from personal and practical experience over 16 years and participating in research with scientists around the world, i.e. America, Australia and Asia. his advice is widely sought.

Kelp is a member of the algae family, of which there are 1500 healthy species around the coasts of Victoria. It is used in pharmaceuticals as the basis of many medicines, and as a binding agent in the food industry. The use of kelp on soils and animal feeds vastly improves crops, milk yields, and productivity.

Kelp repels toxins and is a complete food in its' own right. People say they feel much better when consuming even small amounts, as it replaces missing trace elements, and balances the nutrients in the body.

Bob has lectured to many large groups over the years and finds that a short introduction followed by questions will effectively inform people without missing vital specific information.

Definitely not a night to be missed.
