Australian Indigenous Cultural Awareness

Who:

Joy Murphy-Wandin, an Elder of the Wurundjeri people, has been actively involved in Aboriginal Affairs for the past 30 years, as well as, adjunct Professor of Swinburne University, Lilydale, and Chairperson of the Australian Indigenous Consultative Assembly, Swinburne. Amongst her many talents, she is a former member of the Equal Opportunity Board, and has Co-directed local, national and international arts industry projects.

Today there are few reminders of the culture and history of the Wurundjeri people, that for more than 40,000 years, inhabited the hills and sweeping valleys of the Eastern suburbs of Melbourne, part of which later became, Boroondara, an aboriginal name for `shady place'.

What: Joy will help us to learn more about the Wurundjeri people and their culture, with a focus on the;

When: Monday 14th February, 2000 at 7.30pm.

Where: At Balwyn Library 336 Whitehorse Road, Balwyn. Melway Reference Map 46 E8 (next to McDonalds). Entry via the side door.
