Do We Want a Genetically Modified Future?

Who: Greg Revell

Greg, a member of the Gene-Ethics Network is a passionate advocate for sustainable food systems, growing, cooking, and of course, eating food especially old heritage varieties. He is a holder of a B.Sc Degree which provided the skills and backdrop to investigating biotechnology and its implications for the future of our food. He has been researching Genetically Modified (GM) foods for nearly eight years and has been actively campaigning against their introduction for nearly four years.

GM foods and crops represent one of the most powerful and far-reaching technologies ever created by mankind - the power to fundamentally alter the genetic structure of living self-replicating life-forms. When applied to food and agriculture, what are the risks to human health? What are the implications for the environment with their release? What are the ethical and moral concerns with the patenting of living organisms?
