Radio Astronomy !

 

Who: Peter Campbell

Clint has been an Amateur Radio Operator since the age of 16. He is the Radio Astronomy Section Director of the Astronomical Society of Victoria (ASV) and has been involved in Amateur Radio Astronomy for the last 15 years. He has conducted radio observations of Jupiter on various frequencies, and is currently involved in setting up various radio astronomy devices and receivers at Heathcote, Victoria. .

Radio Astronomy is on the leading edge of discovery and is the observation and study of radio emissions from astronomical bodies which include stars, planets, ionized gas clouds, distant galaxies, and the space between. These radio emissions may be caused by an extremely wide range of physical events occurring on those bodies or in the space between them and us.

When: Monday 10th August 2009 at 7.45pm.

Where: At Balwyn Library 336 Whitehorse Road, Balwyn. Melway Reference Map 46 E8 (next to McDonalds). Entry via the side door.

Tickets $10.00 (Members $5.00)
